Misc:
How to optimise your game (arma 2 and dayz):
If you see something stupid, send some feedback!
Esc\Options\Video:
Graphics intensive options (change depending on your graphics card quality):
-
Texture Detail
-
HDR
-
Shadow (off, high or higher to prevent shadows at all, or to stop them looking like basic pixelated shapes)
CPU intensive options (change depending on your CPU quality):
-
Object detail (this makes buildings and vehicles draw further away at better quality. If you have a good CPU, set this high)
Optimisations (these are options to both improve FPS and make your game look nicer, so set them exactly like this):
-
Video memory: Very High
-
Anistrophic filtering: Very High - if you still get lag, turn this down, but it really has little to no fps hit and looks great
-
Antialiasing: Disabled
-
ATOC: Disabled
-
Terrain Detail: Very Low
-
HDR: Pick lowest option availiable
-
PPAA: FXAA (Sharp Filter) - Low - if you still get lag, turn this down, but it really has little to no fps hit and helps show players and moving stuff
-
Postprocess Effects: Disabled
-
Interface Size: I prefer this on normal - no lag, just looks nicer and clearer chat text[*]Vsync: Disabled
-
Resolution: The same as your monitor
-
3D Resolution: The same as your monitor
-
Visibility: 1600 - set by all servers as 1600 default anyway, you could try turning it down if you get lag and hope the server you use lets you
-
Gamma: 1 - turn up at night for night vision
-
Brightness: 1
Other tips:
-
If using DayZ commander, change launch parameters to this for Epoch: noSplash -noPause -mod=@DayZEpoch
-
If playing Takistan Life, right click your Arma 2 shortcut or edit it in your steam library if running with steam and change launch parameters to: noSplash -noPause
-
These paramaters do as follows: -noPause helps to keep parts of the game running when alt+tabbed so you see "receiving for less time". -noSplash stops all the bohemia adds showing on game launch, deducting a 20 second wait while nothing even god damn loads ;(
-
In addition to this, if you still get lag try adding -winXP to launch options, since that parameter runs the game in compatibility mode for xp, which is what the game was made for, and some people claim to get a small fps boost[*]Goto your documents\Arma 2 and open ArmA2OA.cfg with notepad, then change: GPU_MaxFramesAhead and GPU_DetectedFramesAhead to this:GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1;GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1;
Esc\Options\Controls:
-
Turn smoothing down to nothing - Stops input lag and aim smoothing to make the game look smoother, which entirely throws off your aim
Esc\Options\Game Options:
-
Turn headbobing to nothing - Stops camera shake when moving
-
Set blood quality to the maximum - Little to no lag, helps to see if someone is injured
Enjoy your new game! - Freddie
